Jay Patterson and Brent Lucas on putting AI to work

A district fire chief who has built fire-service training systems for a career, and a CTO who ships AI-native software on sovereign infrastructure. Together they set out to answer one question: can an AI assistant be trusted where every answer must be cited and defended?

Jay Patterson

CEO, District Fire Chief and Founder

Jay Patterson

Jay brings the fire service to FireBrain Expert. He sets the standards it is aligned to, builds curriculum with it every day, and holds the subject-matter-expert gates: nothing serves until a fire-service expert has signed it off. Under his lead CERPS has delivered provincial e-learning to the Ontario Fire Service since 2012.

Background

District fire chief, educator and technologist. Founder of Stillwater Consulting and CERPS, building fire-service training systems from national, provincial and municipal college e-learning to practical AI for high-risk, skills-based training.

Brent Lucas

CTO, CERPS Inc.

Brent Lucas

Brent is responsible for how FireBrain Expert was built and where it runs. He directed the AI coding agents that did the building under seven human approval gates, ran the synthetic-user and exam testing, and put the knowledge base on sovereign Canadian infrastructure the company controls.

Background

I build AI-native SaaS with agent-orchestrated development pipelines, LLM synthetic-user testing and sovereign self-hosted infrastructure. Shipping fire-service, POS and ERP platforms at startup speed.
